Your situation is not that unique. With many of the social media platforms there are very few instructions. If you go to google or youtube and search for "twitter resources" you'll find lots of information and videos and info products that can guide you in the use of twitter.
I'm in the process of writing a social media user's guide but is several weeks away from being complete. Let me know what you come up with in your search.

Thanks for the response. I managed to get 'free tickets' to an internet marketing seminar on the weekend. The seminar naturally turned into a big 'sales pitch' so I left early but, the one thing I did get an understanding of from it was twitter. Enough to start using it! So I closely monitoring you on twitter and am going to give it a go.
I believe that twitter can directly feed facebook but haven't worked that out yet!
Look forward to you finishing your social media user's guide and I haven't managed to check out your seminar on brightalk yet but I might go and do that right now!

Yea, those "free seminar" can be tricky - you're free to listen to their sales pitch. If the balance between sales pitch and good info is too out of balance, it's not worth spending your time on those types of events.

You're taking an excellent approach by watching others...that's how I figured out Twitter.
