Friends,
Here's a link to one of our friends from the community, Biana Babinsky, with tips on how coaches can use twitter to expand their business..

Mark,
You make some great points. Some things don't change, no matter what media you use to network. It's just that now, the tools available to a business person makes it so much easier to do those things.

For example - staying in touch with your clients and prospects... sending out cards is great, as you know, it can be done online and you never have to go to the post office. Is that great or what?

Twitter has made it very easy to stay in touch with your contacts. I encourage folks to get on my twitter list because I spend more time there than anywhere else. I very seldom do regular blogging any longer. I share my ideas through twitter.

I set up this group to establish a place where people can come and meet and share ideas.

I come from the old school and trying to learn the skills of social media. I still believe in Tom Hopkin's theory. Send thank you cards and keep in touch with your customers. Your customers will build your business for you with referrals.

Because I'm in a fairly unknown business (hand analysis as the key to your life purpose for coaching and beyond) I found the best way to use social media was to creating mini-videos and posting them on my Facebook group and on youtube (http://www.youtube.com/user/pegkd)

These are not as in depth as a full-length reading, but it does help to demystify what I do and also lets people see me "at work."

When people attend events and have heard there will be a "palm reader" there, they often find me and say "You're not at all what I expected." So I think that showing me at work using social media has really been a key to my success. (And it's led to some great off-line friendships as well)

I have to thank Lynn Scheurell (sp?) of www.mycreativecatalyst.com for the idea -- she does the same thing (mini-readings) for Faces.

That's another gift of Social media -- finding inspiration and mentors - I "met" Lynn on Facebook!

Greetings all.... one practice that has proven valuable for a client of mine (software publisher). Use Linked In's search features to probe for experienced users of your product *software users often state the products they are competent in on their network and other eresume` sites. Example: enter your product or brand, in Linked In's general search. Want more, use their advance search features. You will have to read the responses, and perhaps call or otherwise market to the companies and people returned.... Nice quick hit if you will, surely a low cost action. Enjoy and be well!
